40 ODD YEARS, D’Y’KNOW?

Good Morning everyone and welcome to the first of February, Jay Ferguson of the actively hibernating Sloan group here with you again.

Yes, Tuesday always means New Release Day around here… but this morning, there’s an added extra bonus... it’s the nominations for the 2011 Juno Awards. So, while checking out who’s making new music now, we’ll also be reflecting on who made impressions with the Canadian Academy Of Recording Arts & Sciences over this past year.

On the program we’ll hear some brand new Buck 65, who’s doing some pensive reflecting of his own on 20 Odd Years, some relationship analysis with Spring Breakup, a dash of country stylings courtesy of Katie Moore and some tales of beauty queens and landlocked mermaids as told by Winnipeg’s Christine Fellows.

The Juno Awards are celebrating their 40th birthday with a series of concerts called Juno Decades. This Friday February 5th, there will be a night celebrating indie music of the 90’s at the Horseshoe Tavern here in Toronto. I think a certain highkicking bandmate of mine will be there.

Listeners, if you could only listen to music, Canadian or otherwise, from one specific decade for the rest of your life… what decade would it be??

Remember... this is for the rest of your life!!
