One of the interesting things about working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is that your job never ends. You'll be out at a party and someone will ask what you do. Once they hear "CBC" they feel a need to unload on you like you're the president of the Corp. They've got programming ideas; shows that should come back; and hosts that they love/loathe.
But more times than not someone will use the expression "highbrow" or say "elitist." Usually I just answer with "Thanks, that's fantastic." Who doesn't want to be super smart, right?
Well, lots of folks it seems. Now, I'm not sure if this is a rumour (there, full lack of responsibility), but I read that former reality star Lauren Conrad of The Hills said MTV did not like her new series because it was too highbrow. Kind of hard to imagine, isn't it? I wonder... was she seen reading on the show? Sipping wine rather than shooting back something in mass quantities? Talking foreign policy?
My hope is always to reach the heady heights of a brow. Enjoy the show.
