It's Hired Gun Lisa Christiansen in for Grant Lawrence today. He's around...just outside. I'm inside but heading outside later. It's a big ol' thing here in Vancouver as we kick off Culture Days.

For those of you who might not have got the memo: Culture Days is a collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. - What this really means is lots of amazing events across Canada celebrating what I like to call the icing on the cake of our lives.

But of course Culture is much more than entertainment and diversion... not that there's anything wrong with that. It's also about story telling and creation and my guests have a lot to say on these subjects. First up, The Lab is a new-ish arts online and print magazine coming out of Vancouver. Editor in Chief/Creative Director Justin Tyler Close joins me to discuss the magazine's vision to celebrate creation.

And speaking of creation... ever wonder if this whole human experiment is going to work out? A documentary screening at the Vancouver International Film Festival tackles the subject in Surviving Progress. The directors Mathieu Roy and Harold Crooks join me. Their film is based on the famed book a A Brief History of Progress by Richard Wright... and both really do get you thinking.

So on that front, and thinking about culture:

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF CULTURE...IN CANADA AND FURTHER?
IS IT IMPORTANT FOR GOVERNMENTS TO SUPPORT ART?

It's a busy day and a busy show...looking very forward to it all!
