Today on Lanarama: Foodie Friday! Thanksgiving!

It’s that time again, the annual blog featuring one of the most disturbing profile photos of all time!

Thanksgiving really is the kickoff to overeating season, is it not? Weeks after this bird and potato fest we gorge on Halloween candy, then we’re already into Christmas party and holiday eating. It really is enough to just switch your wardrobe to draw string pants and muumuus (and by ‘we’ and ‘your’ I am referring to people like myself. If you have self control, please disregard this paragraph.)

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
What will you be eating?
Any food traditions other than turkey?

This year at my annual Thanksgiving Dinner for People Who Are Far From Their Families (the new, politically correct replacement for ‘Orphans Thanksgiving’) I will be making my infamous Heart Attack Potatoes. Though delicious, they are one of the unhealthiest side dishes known to mankind. Never underestimate the power of a butter fried cornflake.

Heart Attack Potatoes
2 lbs. frozen hash browns (cubes), thawed
3/4 cups melted butter
1/2 cups chopped onion
1 can cream of whatever soup (asparagus? chicken? you pick)
1 large container of sour cream
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
2.5 cups crushed cornflakes
Combine potatoes with 1/2 cup butter and everything else except cornflakes. Fry 1/4 cup butter and cornflakes together in a pan and place on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
