Last week I read that Roger Daltrey of The Who said music today is lacking lead singers. His argument is a little confusing. He says there are a lot of new singers who are fantastic, but they're not LEAD singers.
And he may be right. He's one of the greatest lead singers of all time (and the 3rd most entertaining member of The Who). But maybe the idea of a lead singer is overrated. Some of my favourite bands (Sloan, The Unicorns, Arcade Fire) have/had multiple singers.
So let me ask you...
WHAT MAKES A GREAT LEAD SINGER?
Is it just a voice? Who is the best lead singer today? Do you agree with Roger Daltrey? Do we need lead singers?
