It’s been a good day for music lists, and that inevitably means it’s a good day at CBC Radio 3. Next to debating the merits of applied economics, there’s nothing I like more than a good subjective collection of songs to get all get me all riled.
For those who like to argue the placement of songs, the NME 150 Top Songs from the past 15 Years – it’s a winner. How did "Crazy in Love" beat out "99 Problems." I have no idea.But for one of those collected lists, I enjoyed thinking about omissions.
Spinner.ca’s Occupy Wall Street playlist got me to thinking about how few Canadians made the list. While it's nice to see Stars and Broken Social Scene, what about D.O.A., Neil Young, Propaghandi? Since the protest has moved North, we might want to think about some more of our homegrown talent for a protest soundtrack. Any thoughts?
