Some BC alumni return to the show this week: Toronto's Tasseomancy are spearheaded by twin sisters Sari and Romy Lightman and we have eaten breakfast together before. The band's surreal, slightly freaky folk has a new look on their excellent new album Ulalume, thanks in part to some adventurous arrangements and production by Timber Timbre. As active members of Austra too, Sari and Romy are busy little bees these days but they have just enough time to meet me in the North York area of Toronto, at the United Bakers Dairy Restaurant. Why here? I dunno. I have a 35 minute subway ride to ponder this. Should be a good one!
Are you a fan of Tasseomancy? Any plans to see them live, like at their record release at the Great Hall in Toronto tonight, or to pick up their new album?
I have five Ulalume CDs to give away to the first listeners who can correctly answer the following questions about today's show on the blog (if you guess in advance, a baby pony's first word will be "anger" after listening to the same record over and over and over and over again):
2. Which band has a bassist that Tasseomancy particularly admire?
3. According to Romy, what is the busy prime time range for customers at the United Bakers Dairy Restaurant?
4. Who is Sari texting with during the Breakfast Club at one point?
5. What have Tasseomancy and Vish both been accused of being at different points in our respective lives?
The answer to these questions, and possibly others, will turn up on today's show. If you end up being the first person to post the winning answer on the blog (once!), please e-mail vish_khanna [at] cbcradio3.com with "A new kind of bagel" in the subject line, and your blog moniker and shipping address in your message.
What has been the weirdest Breakfast Club episode thus far? Where does the Breakfast Club need to stop next? Who needs to be on this show?
What are YOU having for breakfast? I am on twitter and WE are on twitter. Plus, now you can "Like" us by joining our Facebook page, which gets you some exclusive previews of the show and much more! Or some. Some more.
