We are just lousy with BC alumni these days: Toronto's Elliott BROOD are one of the hardest working and popular young purveyors of "death country" rock in Canada and now they're back on this show. Their latest record is the acclaimed, somewhat understated Days Into Years, their first for Paper Bag Records after years on Six Shooter. Casey and Stephen are very eager to have me eat with them at a place in Parkdale called Stavros, so I'm gonna hop to it. Stick around. We always have a good time together.
Are you a fan of Elliott BROOD? Any plans to see them live, on their cross-Canada tour with One Hundred Dollars, or to pick up their new album?
I have five Days Into Years CDs to give away to the first listeners who can correctly answer the following questions about today's show on the blog (if you guess in advance, a strong, healthy pony will succumb to a cold so powerful, his Wednesday show will be altered with no explanation whatsoever):
2. Which one of Casey’s musical heroes kinda crushed his heart into oblivion?
3. Who is Stephen often mistaken for?
4. Who is Casey pleased to have discovered is still alive?
5. What city are Stephen and Casey most looking forward to playing on their upcoming tour?
The answer to these questions, and possibly others, will turn up on today's show. If you end up being the first person to post the winning answer on the blog (once!), please e-mail vish_khanna [at] cbcradio3.com with "The Walking BROOD" in the subject line, and your blog moniker and shipping address in your message.
