Inspired by a 2001 visit to Havana's musical epicentre, El Barrio Santo Suarez, Andrew Whiteman (Broken Social Scene) returned to Toronto to form the quartet Apostle of Hustle and take up a residency at a local dive bar where they played Brazilian and Cuban folk songs as well as Tom Waits and PJ Harvey covers.
Despite a busy schedule with BSS, Apostle of Hustle found time to work on a collection of original songs and released their first album Folkloric Feel in July of 2004. We got them into the studio shortly thereafter for an exclusive Radio 3 session.
