Andrew Laviolette is a songwriter from Sudbury, Ontario who now resides even farther north. Here, he answers a few of our questions in an effort to get to know him a little bit better:

Q: Describe the music you make in 5 words or less.
A: Endless possibilities for good listeners.

Q: What is the last movie you saw -- and if you wrote a song about it, what would it be called?
A: Disney's The Jungle Book - "Mumbling Mowgli"

Q: Where are you most likely to be found on a Saturday night?
A: I'm currently living in Dawson City Yukon. On a Saturday night in Dawson you'll find me either playing pool and drinking Pilsner at the infamous Snake Pit, or wandering around outside chasing the Aurora Borealis.

Q: How about on a Sunday morning?
A: Drinking good coffee with my beautiful girlfriend Kristen Poenn, while listening to CBC Radio 2.

Q: If you could record a duet with any Canadian artist, who would you pick? And who would produce it?
A: I'd love to trade verses with Mary Margaret O'Hara. I'd let her create the melody and then have a hoot trying to keep up. Having Mr. Daniel Lanois behind the soundboard would be a dream come true for me.

Q: The strangest thing that ever happened to me during a live show is...
A: This didn't actually happen to me, but to my girlfriend who was singing harmony with me at the time. In August, the two of us travelled as "On Board Entertainers" on the VIA Rail train from Toronto to Vancouver.
On our second day of travel, we spent all afternoon playing checkers in the dining car with a little girl who was travelling with her family.
Later on that day, we were playing a set in the train's back compartment (where all of the rich travellers ride) when the little girl suddenly appeared. The little girl was really happy to see Kristen, and she immediately leapt at Kristen, proceeded to crawl all over her and at one point even hung off Kristen's neck, and all the while Kristen was trying to keep up with the harmony of the song while our audience of high-class travellers smirked and sipped champagne.
