Hey, it is Sunday Feb 5th 2012. Welcome to R3 Weekend. Pete Morey reporting for duty.

As always leave your comment on the blog and follow along with the show on TUMBLR

Today (carrying on the literary theme) I’m asking…

WHAT IS THE BEST FIRST SENTENCE YOU’VE EVER READ?

This question is inspired by the band Library Voices song “If Raymond Carver Were Born In The 90’s”

The American writer Raymond Carver has produced some my favourite ‘first sentences’ ever.

Here’s one of Raymond’s best opening lines from the short story Viewfinder.

"A man without hands came to the door to sell me a photograph of my house."

I love it. What is going to happen next?

Feel free to share your favourite opening sentence on the Blog today….even if its from “See Spot Run”.

Here’s a list of awesome opening sentences for inspiration.
