On Valentine's Day, we posted a list of the top five R&B pleading-for-your-love songs. Of course, the five songs were just a starting point. We asked you to contribute suggestions for songs that make you want to get down on your knees and plead for your lost love to come back.
CBC Music community member kingstonroadtripper weighed in:
"Maybe i'm indecisive, or maybe i'm just [inconsiderate], but i'll be listening to Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home to Me" again today."
Jon Pressick commented:
"For those whose V-Day might be close to signalling an end, take a hint from some blue-eyed soul, with the Righteous Brothers’ "You've Lost that Loving Feeling."
Music journalist and CBC Music contributor David Dacks sent in his request, via Facebook, for "Searching for My Baby" by Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces.
CBC Music member DJ Nico brings another sound into the mix:
"How about Dusty Springfield's rendition of "The Look of Love?" She's more on the blue-eyed soul vein but the lady could belt it out ... but be coy and vulnerable at the same time."
CBC Radio host Garvia Bailey picks a song I can't believe we overlooked!
"The Jackson Five singing "I Want You Back" is one of the most plaintive, pleading, grovelling, shake-your-tailfeather tunes ... made even more plaintive by Michael's keening vocals.”
And there's always room for more. Please share your suggestions with the rest of the CBC Music community.
