Pachelbel’s Canon and Beethoven’s Fifth are two examples of very familiar classical music where the title and the composer are linked together. Beethoven is a household name. Johann Pachelbel is not. But in his lifetime, Pachelbel was well known and respected as a composer in Germany. He died on March 3, 1706, and his work was all but forgotten until the 20th century.
