It's Labour Day, which means the summer is over. It's not technically over until September 23rd, but sociologically. Students go back to school, most people have finished their vacation time, and the weather gets colder. I'm a summer lover....no, I don't just make love in the summer...I hardly make love at all. Not by choice. I love the summer months. Everything seems so much more laid back and relaxed. The streets are full of people enjoying the city. As the weather gets colder people hibernate. I kind of dread it. The one thing I actually look forward to is hockey. I play mens' league hockey, but what keeps me entertained through the winter months is NHL hockey. I'm a Leafs fan. Yes, I know. I can't help it. The Toronto Film Festival opens with Score: A Hockey Musical later this week too.
With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to use hockey as our theme today. I wanted to relate it musically somehow. Sooo...What are your favourite songs about hockey? Bands with hockey inspired names? Also, much of the music that gets played during NHL games in arenas is pretty terrible. I'm looking at you Nickelback. What Radio 3 type music would you like to hear over the P.A. during the game? It could be just to pump things up, or for more specific events: goal, save, fight, penalty, etc.
Of course, the forums wide open for anything else. Favourite teams? Favourite players? Best hockey movies? Predictions? Why hockey's not the greatest sport on earth? (you're wrong, obviously, but I'll hear you out)
The puck drops now...
