Two One Directions, Britney Spears judging X Factor and Bully for Bieber.
U.K. boy band One Direction is being sued by a California band with the same name over trademark infringement. According to papers filed on Monday, the California-based One Direction claims the U.K. group’s labels knew about the duplication and chose to ignore it. The California band is seeking over $1 million, and its members claim they are entitled to three times the profits made by the U.K. group. Sounds reasonable.
After months of rumours and negotiations, it looks like Britney Spears will be one of the judges on season two of Simon Cowell’s X Factor. The 30-year-old pop star would fill one of the spots vacated by Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, who were let go at the end of season one. Spears will reportedly pocket $15 million for the gig, earning a few million more than Jennifer Lopez, who makes $12 million on American Idol.
Canadian pop star Justin Bieber will lend his song, “Born to be Somebody,” to a TV spot for the PG-13 release of the controversial documentary, Bully. Bieber has expressed his support of the film via Twitter, saying that it is “intense” and “powerful.” Other celebrities who have participated in the campaign for the film include Glee stars Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera.
