McLachlan opposes seal hunt, Usher loses his shirt and Axl Rose refuses his own Hall of Fame induction.
Sarah McLachlan has sent a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper to protest Canada’s seal hunt. The Canadian singer-songwriter wrote the letter on behalf of PETA, claiming there is no reason to hold onto the industry that is “about as lucrative as an eight-track tape factory.” Keith Ashfield, minister of fisheries and oceans, responded by saying the government will continue to support Canadians who rely on the seal hunt.
Usher dispelled death rumours on Tuesday by tweeting photos of himself with no shirt on. The rumours centred around his supposed death in a car accident. Usher tweeted the photos along with the text, "I must've died and went to heaven...Alive and cold kickin ass!!" Twitter strikes another blow against a perfectly good death rumour.
Axl Rose will not attend the induction of Guns N’ Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Saturday. The singer wrote a 16-paragraph letter detailing that not only will he miss the event, he is refusing the honour, writing, “I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf.”
