Catherine MacLellan had a big day this past weekend at the East Coast Music Awards. Her latest album Silhouette took the award for best folk recording of the year.
In this Up Close session MacLellan, backed by guitarist Chris Gauthier and singer Jadea Kelly, performs stripped down versions of "Snowbird" and three other songs from her latest CD Silhouette.
Silhouette, MacLellan's fourth CD, is perhaps her best work to date. The songs seem to be coming from a place of real security and honesty. MacLellan is an artist in complete control of her craft.
More evidence of this, is in her choice to cover her father Gene MacLellan's most famous song. While many artists with famous parents might shy away from comparisons, Catherine takes comparisons head-on with her beautiful rendition of "Snowbird."
