Legendary drummer from the Band, Levon Helm, died today after a lengthy battle with cancer. Over the past few days there has been an overwhelming outpouring of love and respect for the man via social networks. As we reported yesterday, these well wishes were being read to Helm while in hospital.

Helm had a long and prosperous career as a drummer and you can read about it in our life and times recap. Below are images of him at different points in his life:
