Toronto’s Aldeburgh Connection celebrated 30 years of song recitals with a gala concert on Feb. 19 at Koerner Hall. Sixteen of Canada’s finest singers took part in the program, accompanied by artistic directors Bruce Ubukata and Stephen Ralls. CBC Music recorded the concert and, over the next month, we are highlighting videos of the performances.
Today’s excerpt is a trio by Franz Schubert called Der Hochzeitsbraten (The Wedding Feast). It’s a story about a bride and groom and a lecherous game-keeper, sung by soprano Gillian Keith, tenor Lawrence Wiliford and baritone Tyler Duncan.
Here, Keith describes what’s happening onstage.
