Shuffling off This Mortal Coil -- What Does it Mean to You When Musicians Pass Away?

Howdy, folks! Grant Lawrence is off on a west coast book tour so I'll be filling in for him today and all this week. Nice to be with you!

Have you noticed that there's been a lot of death in the entertainment industry lately? Whitney back in February. Then, just last week, a whole lot of RIPs in a row: the guy who played this hummable flute line, America's oldest teenager, and of course, Levon Helm

I imagine we'll see plenty more of our musical heroes shuffle off the mortal coil in the next few years. It's certainly not something I'll ever get used to. Remember when the King Of Pop moonwalked straight outta here? I don't know about you, but that felt like a weird day and I remember going home and listening to a few MJ songs in tribute.

So, on this Monday morning (Monday mourning...?) I'm curious to hear from you on our poll question...

WHICH ENTERTAINERS'/MUSICIANS' DEATHS HAVE AFFECTED YOU DEEPLY?

Do you remember where you were when you heard the news? How did you react? What do you do to pay tribute/honor your favorite artists who have passed on? Ever visited an artist's gravesite?! Or do you simply not care when an entertainer you never met dies?

Post your comments on the blog, or Tweet @CBCRadio3, or email me: tariq_hussain@cbcradio3.com.

Also on today's show, we'll be talking about Tracks on Tracks as we ramp up for Wednesday's show when the list gets pared down to 25 bands for you to vote on!

Also: How was your International Record Store Day? Who did you see play? Buy any... er... records?
