For the third year in a row, Canada Live brings you Next! This is a ten-week series in which we feature up-and-coming artists from all over the country, whom CBC producers feel might just be the "next big thing". Nothing's for certain, and there are always a lot of variables on the path to stardom. But if any one of these artists hits it big, don't you want to be able to say you heard them first? We thought so.
This first episode of Next! (airing tonight) features three Calgary-based acts: Emily Jill West, 100 Mile House, and JR Shore. All three are different, but each possesses that je ne sais quoi that could propel them further into the limelight.
And folks think lumber, petroleum products and cars are Canada's big exports. Remember: Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Nelly Furtado, Drake and Justin Bieber all came from humble beginnings, and spent their share of time being unknowns. Look at where they are now.
When the next major act emerges from this country, we want you to be able to say you knew all along, thanks to Canada Live.
