Do you remember your very first lunch box? My first school lunch memories are not the fondest. I blame the Cabbage Patch Kids.
My bright yellow Cabbage Patch Kids lunch box was an early 5th birthday present. The thermos leaked and it was not the bright pink She-Ra one I wanted (Pam L. had one. Damn her!)
My lunch was usually a ham and mustard sandwich and a warm apple juice box. Needless to say I’m now a vegetarian and the thought of boxed apple juice makes me cringe.
I then moved on to a Wee Wild Things teal blue lunch box, the infamous brown paper bag for the ‘cool years’ (Grades 5-8) and onto a Sailor Moon lunch bag during high school (I worked at a comic book store, do not mock the Moon!) I still can’t believe we ate egg salad sandwiches that were unrefrigerated for hours.
What was your lunchbox progression? And what was usually inside?

Coming up Times Neue Roman will talk about their performance tonight as part of the New Forms Festival, and perhaps we’ll find out what was in their lunch box.
