If you’re a fan of acoustic blues performed by masterful interpreters, you won’t want to miss this show.
In the first hour of Saturday Night Blues, Vancouver’s Roy Forbes drops by the SNB studio for a visit, and to play some live music. Forbes has been on the Canadian music scene for four decades (he had pop radio success under the moniker Bim). He talks with host Holger Petersen about his early years as a performer, about writing blues music, and plays us some of his songs.
Here's a vidoe sample from that interivew.
In hour two, we’ll play a concert featuring Eric Bibb, another artist who writes original music in the true spirit of the blues, but with a fresh and modern take. Always a standout live performer, we recorded Bibb and his friend, harmonica player Grant Dermody at the North Shore Credit Union Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver.
Saturday Night Blues airs Saturdays on CBC Radio 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on CBC Radio One from 9 to 11 p.m.
