Today on Appetite for Distraction: Talking about a Devolution

It's Hired Gun Lisa Christiansen in for Grant Lawrence today...and yes, she's all Monday thoughtful.

Last week a video was sent around the office from Girl Talk called "Cache Rules Everything Around Me." It’s basically one of the same mash-ups we know from the artist also known as Evan Roth, and the video is really no different -- instead of familiar sounds, it's familiar animated GIFs: dancing babies, slapping penguins, superheroes etc.

In any other week watching this video wouldn’t have seemed like such a strange experience, but it came at the same time as news that the New York Times will probably stop printing their paper within the next five years.

For some these two events have nothing in common, but for me it was a loud and depressing sound. Newspapers – in print and online – are struggling the world over as a result of the internet and I couldn’t help but wonder what we’ve lost and what we’ve gained.

But enough about me... let's hear what you think:
HAS THE INTERNET EVOLVED OR DEVOLVED US?

Let me know your thoughts. And yes, I’m fully aware of the irony that we are connecting online. Go ahead and make a case for the greatness that is blog comments.

ALSO ON THE SHOW: TICKET GIVE AWAY!
