Here's what made the news today, Monday, June 4, 2012.
Drake announced the lineup for the third annual OVO Festival taking place Aug. 5 at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. Joining him on stage will be the Weeknd, A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz.
Lupe Fiasco's new album will have the epic title Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, and will be released on Sept. 25.
The Ol' Dirty Bastard biopic will not feature GZA. Rumours that all the Wu-Tang Clan members would be playing themselves in the film came from a quote from actor Michael K. Williams, in which he said that the producers "have no desire to cast any actors as the Wu-Tang."
A representative told Pitchfork that the Wu-Tang Clan member "Spoke to GZA today. I will tell you 100% he is not appearing in the ODB/Jarred Weisfeld movie. I can't speak for the rest of the group, but definitely not true about GZA."
Williams will be playing ODB in the upcoming film.
And finally, here's a new party game for you. How many stars can you identify in this supercut of all the shout-outs to the Roots, the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? See if you can spot one of our favourite CBC Music guests in the montage.
