Luckily, since I started working in the "biz", not being able to get into my favourite festivals is a frustration that I no longer really have to endure...
But this seems to be a phenomenon that is cropping up more and more; festivals selling out in record time. This year, Edmonton Folk Fest sold out in under ten minutes!! Guelph's Hillside Festival's weekend passes sell almost as quickly.
Some festivals (ahem..Blue Skies..ahem) are so popular that they have a lottery just for the chance to buy tickets! Also, so popular that they apparently don't even need a website!!
Edmonton's festival is considering changes in how they sell tickets. Is a lottery nigh?
Have you ever been unable to buy tickets to your favourite festival? What can be done about it? In a way, isn't it a good thing that your fest is so popular?
