Every morning I wake up, work out, dress for the day, and head to the office. Granted, my office is at the end of the hall so I manage to avoid commuting woes. But, the work that awaits me at my desk is just like yours. It seemingly never ends and everyone needs it "yesterday".
I'm lucky that I enjoy my work. I'm a full-time musician and occasional host on Radio 3, so I can't complain really. But, a "rough day at the office" applies to everyone and sometimes you just can't shake it.
The right song can change all of that, though. Not only does it distract me from the monotony of the work in front of me, but it can also transform my mood completely. Sorting and documenting a year's worth of receipts for my taxes isn't so bad when I have an Angolan House music mix to move to.
What plays in your office?
May I make a suggestion? If you're having a rough day, cue Maylee Todd's Summer Sounds. It moves from "lazy afternoon swim" to "funky beach party" in the span of 3 minutes. It's no vacation, but it'll help you make it to Friday.
That, and other songs to soundtrack your workday, all feature on today's show.
Alanna Stuart is the lead singer of Bonjay, a band from Toronto. She's hosting every Thursday and Friday in July from 4-8pm ET (1-5pm PT).
