Beck to release mostly useless album

If you’ve been dying to make use of your childhood piano lessons, Beck has an album for you. In a move that will make even vinyl snobs feel inferior, the singer-songwriter’s next album will be released solely as sheet music. Beck Hansen’s Song Reader is due for release in December through McSweeney’s, so gather round the piano or call your chamber music quartet or do whatever music readers do.

For the rest of us musically illiterate, the collection will feature full-colour art and a hardcover carrying case. According to Beck’s website, the Song Reader will be “as visually absorbing as a dozen gatefold LPs put together.”

The package will contain 20 never before released or recorded songs, including two instrumentals. While we don’t know what these songs will sound like, one thing is certain: we can’t wait to hear some YouTube weirdo with a ukulele performing a bunch of unrecognizable Beck tracks.
