This week Radio 2 Drive gets Up Close with Blackie and The Rodeo Kings and Alex Cuba, two of the artists appearing at this year's Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival.
Alex Cuba's new album hasn't hit stores yet but his sneak peak single "Are You" has become a staple here at Radio 2. This video should whet your appetite for when Alex Cuba and his band hit the stage at this year's festival.
Located in the heart of beautiful British Columbia, Salmon Arm sits on the Trans-Canada Highway halfway between Calgary and Vancouver. It is nestled on the shores of one of the largest and most pristine lake systems in British Columbia. Shuswap Lake has over 700 kilometres of shoreline with plenty of sandy beaches for recreation and relaxation. Outstanding natural beauty, clean waterways, provincial parks and an abundance of green space surround this world-famous recreation area.
I don't know about you but with a description like that I would plan on spending a week and not just a weekend. For all of you heading to the 20th anniversary of the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues festival I'm sure you'll have a blast.
Salmon Arms seems like just the place for the three guys in Blackie and The Rodeo Kings. I can easily see Stephen Fearing, Colin Linden and Tom Wilson jamming out "Acadian Driftwood" around the campfire.
