Radio 2 Drive continues its look at some of the best music festivals in Canada and gets Up Close with some of the artists that are on the bill at these festivals.
This week we take a look at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton, N.B. The festival runs from Sept. 11 to the 16. This year's festival is looking pretty hot. Along with featuring the best in Canadian music the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival makes a point of bringing in some of the coolest acts from around the world. This year is no exception with a line-up that includes Bruce Hornsby, Keb Mo, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.
But lets not forget the Canadian acts. This year's festival has a really great Canadian contingent including two of the artists that Radio 2 Drive got Up Close with over the past year.
First we've got David Myles. His latest CD is called Simple Pleasures and is perfect music festival listening. Myles takes to the Playhouse stage with fellow Canadian Kathleen Edwards on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Another not-to-be-missed performance at the festival will be Jill Barber. Barber and her awesome band get the distinction of kicking off the festival by performing at the opening night gala at the Playhouse on Tuesday Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. To get a sneak peak of Barber performing live tune in to Radio 2 Drive on Friday, Aug. 17 to hear her Up Close session.
