In anticipation of Whitehorse’s new album, The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss, the duo invited CBC Music to a cabin on Lake Erie for an exclusive session. The band, which is made up of husband and wife Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, performed some songs from the new album, which will be released on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Here are the first tunes from the session, “Achilles’ Desire” and “Mismatched Eyes (Boat Song).”

“Achilles’ Desire” is the album’s raucous first single, and Doucet and McClelland perform it while stomping around the cabin in Port Ryerse, Ont. “Mismatched Eyes (Boat Song)” takes the pair outside for a tender acoustic duet, alongside a well behaved kitty.

The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss is the followup to last year’s self-titled debut. The album hits stores on Tuesday, Aug. 28. We will release more exclusive Whitehorse performances leading up to the album’s release, so check out CBC Music in the next few days.
