Radio 2 Drive continues its look at the best music festivals in the country by getting Up Close with artists that will be performing around the country this summer.
This week we take a look at Daniel Lanois and Feist who will be performing at this year's Greenbelt Harvest Picnic on Sept. 1 at Christie Lake in Dundas, Ontario.
The Greenbelt Harvest Picnic is Daniel Lanois's baby. He came up with the idea for the festival after seeing all the great things that Farm Aid was able to achieve in the U.S. The Greenbelt Harvest Picnic features great music with a goal of educating people about the importance of the Greenbelt and showcasing the produce and art that is grown and created there.
The non-musical activities at the festival include a local farmers market, swimming, fishing, local artisans and horticultural workshops put on by the Mount Hamilton Horticultural Society.
As for the music, well this is a festival like no other, Danny Lanois has some pretty cool friends and he isn't shy about showing them off. This year's picnic will feature performances by Emmylou Harris, Sarah Harmer, Gord Downie and the Sadies and of course Daniel Lanois himself.
