Carole Pope isn't a morning person.
The Rough Trade singer and songwriter was very clear about that we we first emailed about recording a My Playlist show. But studios are kind of hard to come by these days and as luck would have it (bad luck) the only booking available back in early February had a start time of 10 a.m.
Carole was gracious. I promised her a coffee.
She arrived on time, (she brought her own coffee) looking a little sleepy, but a friendly kind of sleepy. She was recording a segment with George Stroumboulopoulus later in the day and had a gig the next night. She lives in New York now and was making the most of a trip to Toronto.
Clear-eyed, direct, funny, honest.
And her My Playlist show reflects an artist with a passion for the art of making all kinds of music. A great hour of music.
