Musician and visual artist Chad VanGaalen is going all Mad Men on us by putting together an animated ad for Icon Wheelchairs. The visual style of the ad is very similar to that seen on VanGaalen's self-made album and cassette artwork.
So why is he lending his name and artistic talents to the ad? Turns out, VanGaalen's brother-in-law, Christian Bagg, started the business and asked the illustrator to do an ad.
"I warned him, it was gonna be whatever I want it to be," said VanGaalan, over the phone from his home in Calgary. The musician says he's learned a great deal about wheelchairs through Bagg, and did some extensive testing of the product before lending his endorsement.
"I've definitely ridden their wheelchairs a few times on my skateboard ramps," said VanGaalen. "And I can vouch that they're pretty awesome. And if you injure yourself in the wheelchair, you're already in the wheelchair."
