To help celebrate Whitehorse’s new album, The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss, the duo invited CBC Music to a cabin on Lake Erie for an exclusive session. The band performed some songs from the new album, which was released on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Here are the first tunes from the session, “Achilles’ Desire” and “Mismatched Eyes (Boat Song).”
“Achilles’ Desire” is the album’s raucous first single, and Doucet and McClelland perform it while stomping around the cabin in Port Ryerse, Ont. “Mismatched Eyes (Boat Song)” takes the pair outside for a tender acoustic duet, alongside a well behaved kitty.
Here are two more songs from the session, “No Glamour in the Hammer” and “Out Like a Lion.”
“No Glamour in the Hammer” is a shout-out to their hometown of Hamilton, performed in the cabin in Port Ryerse, Ont. “Out Like a Lion” is performed on the porch with a couple of acoustic guitars.
Here is the final song from the session, "Devil's Got a Gun." The song sees the pair stomping and kicking their way around the cabin in Port Ryerse, Ont.
The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss is the followup to last year’s self-titled debut. Check it out in stores now. If you missed the earlier songs from the session, all five of them are available here.
