Lanarama: Songs for “the nicest place on the internet”

Have you ever been to New York City? The first thing you may notice, if you want to eat pizza that is, is that the “best pizza in New York City” can be found on every corner. Is it really? No, but everyone claims to be (for the record Lombardi’s pizza is pretty fantastic, same with the pizza at Otto…)

Due to many false claims in life, from pizza to eye cream, it might be hard to believe it when someone posts a link to “the nicest place on the internet.” Sure, cat videos can make you laugh, so can a heart warming collection of photos or a great story, but what comes to mind when you hear “nicest place”? Where is your nicest place?

Turns out “the nicest place on the internet” might just be. It’s pretty wonderful and filled with hugs. Literally. People hugging a camera. The camera is you. Hugs from around the world, from couples drinking wine, from odd little animal puppets, from a cool kid in the park on a sunny day, even group hugs! It really does warm the heart. On top of it all, My Brightest Diamond’s song “I Have Never Loved Someone” combined with all the sweetness, well, it might just bring a tear to your eye.

There are be a million reasons why the internet is great. Heck, if it wasn’t for the internet we wouldn’t be on here checking out great Canadian music, but today “the nicest place on the internet” is on top of that list. As more videos and hugs get added, surely they’ll need another tune or two.

When it comes to songs to be the soundtrack to a warm, fuzzy, hug-a-thon, what would you want to hear?

If this isn't the nicest place on the internet, what is?
