Ironically, as I write this missive for the blog, I wonder... in this age of twitter, facebook, and general instant information, have we lost some of the mystery that once surrounded our favourite pop stars and artists? Are we bombarded with too much information about them... too much unnecessary (and often boring) detail? Does this detract from the appeal?
OR... do you think it strengthens the bond between artist and audience, by bringing the mega stars (fyi: i'm talking me here, folks) down to a more intimate, relatable and accessible level? Perhaps you find some artists are putting the platforms to better use than others?
Man, I recall back in the day craving any information on the Jesus & Mary Chain's riot-filled early concerts and records... and waiting patiently for the NME to show up at Atlantic News in Halifax (always 5 weeks late) to read about them. Now, I can find out instantly what Kanye had for brunch today (it was pancakes).
