Some people love karaoke and some people hate it. And then there are some people who are abnormally good at it.
One of the latter is Lowell Sostomi, frontman of the Great Bloomers. I've seen him sing (and when I say "sing," I mean "totally rule") both Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing In the Dark" and The Smith's "This Charming Man" at various karaoke nights. Yes, that's right, he goes to karaoke nights. And sometimes, so do I. I'm givin' you the real dirt here. This is the Canadian music gossip you want and need.
Look! It has the lyrics so you can practice, too!
Anyway, I'm impressed by anyone who can pull of The Boss and Morrissey convincingly. (Less impressive, probably, are my renditions of my favourite karaoke standards: The Eagles' "One of These Nights" and The Cardigans' "LoveFool.")
Today I'll be playing you some new Great Bloomers - their track "I Wanna Die Young" - which I think might actually be a PERFECT KARAOKE jam. Canadian indie karaoke night, anyone? Yes. Me too. I bet we can find some more good candidates for karaoke from the playlist today, too. Maybe some Stars? Bend Sinister? Zeus? I call dibs on "Change" by Hey Ocean! Let's do this.
