The 80th anniversary of Glenn Gould's birth on Tuesday, Sept. 25, is an occasion for music lovers to reflect on the legacy of this unique and enigmatic Canadian artist. CBC Music and CBC Radio 2's Tempo will celebrate Gould next week, and to get the party started we're giving you the chance to win Sony's amazing new audio and video package, Glenn Gould: the complete Bach collection.
This limited deluxe edition is the first issue of Gould's complete recorded Bach legacy in 38 CDs and six DVDs. It includes a full-colour book, complete with original liner notes partly written by Gould himself. The video content includes 40 minutes of previously unreleased material featuring Gould discussing his discovery of Bach, the meaning of fugue and counterpoint, and changing attitudes towards music and its performers.
