Odario Talks Polaris Peer Pressure

So I decided at the very last minute to attend the Polaris Music Prize Gala last night. It was worth the probing from a couple of friends that wouldn't let me be. Prior to being convinced, I was slouched at home with a sullen look on my face responding with, "Nah I'll just stay home, eat chips and stream the gala online". i told my party people to go ahead without me.

It's funny what a little peer pressure can do (adult life included). My friends were quite consistant and reminded me that only once will I be able to see Feist, Cold Specks, F*cked Up, Cadence Weapon and all the other short listers on one stage together. I was reminded of the Masonic Temple's beautifully haunted vibe and the anxious air the concert goers provide. And last but not least ...the perogies and mini grilled cheese sandwiches! Oh the perogies.

After the Gala, my friends then tried to convince me to follow them out to the after-party. I declined. I needed to know my own name the next morning. I didn't let the peer pressure get to me the second time around. And that, my friends, is why I am here right now writing to you in proper English and no massive headache! So here I am (sort of).

I am happy and content I got off the couch, followed my friends to the gala and witnessed Feist be the first female artist to take home the Polaris Prize. It was a sight to see. In today's show I'll share my thoughts on the sights and sounds of last night's soiree.

What are your thoughts on Feist's win?

You can stream her 2012 Polaris winning album Metals here on Radio3.
