Electronic pop duo Purity Ring unveiled “Belispeak II” this morning, Oct. 10, a reworked version of their single “Belispeak” with a new verse from hip hop artist Danny Brown.
The Detroit-based rapper pursued Purity Ring’s Corin Roddick over Twitter after hearing the band while they were on tour this summer in support of their debut release, Shrines. A friendship blossomed over email exchanges and Brown co-opted “Belispeak’s” haunting soundscape and reimagined it as a chilled out, club-banging, glimpse of his childhood.
It’s a welcome reinvention that should help tide fans over until Purity Ring kicks off its next tour in the New Year, beginning Jan. 10 at Le National in Montreal.
