After a hiatus of some time, the venerable blues-rock-soul-reggae outfit that is Big Sugar has reunited! Gordie Johnson and his various bandmates had, since 2003, moved on to greener pastures. Johnson, for his part, started another band, and became an acclaimed producer. But if you wait long enough, it seems any successful rock enterprise will reform.
Since the band got back together in 2010, they've been toiling away. They released a new record, called Revolutions Per Minute, whose lead single hit number five on the Canadian rock charts.
We recorded Big Sugar in a packed show at Vancouver's legendary Commodore Ballroom, in support of their latest album. If you're ready to engage in heavy groove (and heavy innuendo, for that matter), check it out on Concerts on Demand, or tune in to the October 18 edition of Canada Live.
