Please watch your toes, I'm about to drop a deliberately provocative statement:

Drugs and music go together like Batman and Robin, or maybe more like french fries and gravy.

Now some might not like hearing this, or think that this statement is shockingly irresponsible, but lets address the pink elephant in the room: Music culture, especially the movements of the past 50 years, has been heavily influenced by drugs of countless molecular configurations.

Now whether you believe the drug/music connection is about people simply abusing themselves and ultimately limiting their potential creative output while putting themselves and others at risk, or that the drugs are a tool that allow artists the cognitive liberty to strike out into new territory is something that can be debated endlessly, but before you put up your dukes, watch Music and the Psychedelic Mind, a short doc from Pitchfork TV.
