Bruce Springsteen has trouble rhyming 'Obama'

Although he vowed not to get involved in this year’s U.S. presidential race, Bruce Springsteen has come out in full support of President Barack Obama, going so far as to pen a campaign song for the incumbent U.S. president.

“Right now, there is a fight going on to help make this a fairer and more equitable nation. For me, President Obama is our best choice to get us and keep us moving in the right direction,” Springsteen wrote in a long statement posted to his website on Oct. 17, before appearing at an Obama rally in Ohio.

Coming on after Bill Clinton, who Springsteen compared to Elvis Presley, the Boss launched into a seven-song acoustic set, starting with “No Surrender,” but also including a mock campaign song (watch it below).

The song was only three verses, but the legendary songwriter quickly ran out of things to rhyme with “Obama.” Here are the lyrics:

I kissed your sister then I kissed your mama
Usually this time of day I'm in my pyjamas
Let's vote for the man who got Osama
Forward, and away we go

I came to Ohio looking for a date
We kissed and I said it was a hell of a state
We made love but it wasn't so great
Forward, and away we go

Smiling Joe he rarely bought the drama
Tuesday Romney was schooled by Obama
[Then I couldn't find another word to rhyme with Obama, so that was the end of it]
Forward, and away we go

Admittedly, it’s not very political (or lyrical, for that matter), especially coming from a guy who released the politically charged Wrecking Ball earlier this year. But if all he needed were things to rhyme with “Obama,” he could’ve looked to hip-hop, which has been doing it since the man once dubbed B-Rock by Vibe magazine ran for office.

Here are five of the best Obama rap lyrics:

“That's a threat, I'm not making a promise/ Speak to the people like Barack Obama/ They worship like the black Madonna.” – Talib Kweli, “Say Something

"Standing in front of the judge with no honour/ My raps unite the people like Obama." – Common, “The People”

“They say I was the obamination of Obama's nation/ Well that’s a pretty bad way to start the conversation.” – Kanye West, “Power

"Dear Obama, comma/ First off, this is truly an honour." – Jin, "Open Letter to Obama"

"Get that type of media coverage Obama get/ Spit that Kurt Vonnegut/ That blow your brain, Kurt Cobain, that Nirvana shit." Jay Electronica, "Exhibit A"
