Tonight's a pretty big deal for Ottawa music lovers: after 11 years, hometown heroes the Hilotrons are playing their last show ever at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec.

There are a few reasons why the band is calling it quits, but mostly it's because the band is too busy to tour the last album, called At Least There's Commotion, which is coming out on February 5th.

If you're only hearing of the Hilotrons now, then check out their music, you'll probably love their mix of electronic, international pop influenced sound. The Hilotrons mix sounds in a way that makes it familiar enough to tap your toes and new enough to keep you coming back for more.

Case in point, listen to this track off their 2008 album, Happymatic:

... and now you know why Hilotrons shows normally end up as a manic, sweaty dance party. And tonight's show won't be any different!

To celebrate the end of one of Ottawa' favourite bands, you'll hear frontman Mike Dubue tell a terrifying Bandwich story... a fitting end to Bandwich, as this is my last weekend on Radio 3 (sad, I know! But we'll talk more about that tomorrow).

Are you a fan of the Hilotrons? What's your favourite song, album, memory from the band?
