CBC Music presents the premiere of "The Fighter," the latest video from the new album The Beautiful Wild by Halifax's Jenn Grant.
"My brother and I recently found this 16mm footage of our mother as the Queen of Azaleas in 1973," Grant told CBC Music by email. "It was unopened and in perfect condition. There is an emotional connection for me to this footage that captures what The Beautiful Wild and 'The Fighter' both mean to me."
The video was directed by fellow Haligonian Jason Levangie, who described the shoot:
"With a team of two, we shot 8mm footage of Jenn, and combined it with 16mm home movies of her mother and her duties as Queen of Azaleas. I'm really happy I had the opportunity to make this. Shooting film stock is an increasingly rare task these days, and working with this precious family footage was a very fulfilling process for me. Thanks to our great stylist Sarah Roy and to Jenn herself for trusting me with this important little project, it meant a great deal to me to put this together."
