Derek Miller is something of a force of nature. He's a one man ball of energy that expresses itself through power chords, destroyed stages and screaming female fans around Indian Country.
In more plebian terms, Derek's a rockin' bluesman who's won a couple of Junos, some Aboriginal Peoples' Choice Music Awards and so many Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards that now they just get him to host the show.
On this edition of Indian Summer he talks to us about the journey that took him from a Mohawk boy growing up on the Six Nations Reserve to Rock Star who records with the likes of Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughan's backing band. One of the songs he plays live for us also touches on the detour that his career took when he was battling addiction issues. Overall, it's a fun show with a very cool dude.
And yes, he does premiere his song with the grass-smoking Country music legend, so you'll hear that one before anyone else!
