Ladies, gentlemen, everyone, I’m sorry we missed each other last week when we were meant to be discussing our book of the month, Perfect Youth – The Birth of Canadian Punk by Sam Sutherland. I was away in Vancouver last week and he and I couldn’t connect before I left. I have heard from some of you directly that you’re enjoying the book, so that’s swell. If you have any questions for Sutherland about his book, please post them below. We’ll be wrapping up our discussion on it next week.

OK. While we were away, the strangest, most diabolical and, by now, most amusing thing to have happened since I started this book club back in my Radio 3 days took place. It is a story of deceit, betrayal, contest abuse and happenstance that is really unbelievable.

Here’s Sutherland to explain the situation:

I know I said I can now find this amusing but, watching the video again, I’m still kinda baffled and incensed. We did have more work to do, so here’s Sutherland and I trying to unravel this mystery:

So there you have it. The book club got punked, reading a punk book. And I know who did this but I don’t think I can really do anything about it. Or maybe I just did something about it?

Is any of this my fault? Meaning, should I be more careful about how I offer books to you guys? Is there anything punk rock about what this person did to our book club? What do you think they did with their credit slip? Do you have any questions for Sam Sutherland about this incident and his book, Perfect Youth? What do you make of the book in general?
