Hi! I'm Anupa, the new community producer for CBC Electronic. You might have seen me around the CBC Music blogs; I recently wrote about taking in a Jay-Z show at the brand new (and controversial) Barclays Center in Brooklyn and I've hung out with Craig Norris on the R3-30 a couple of times.
On the electronic front, I just interviewed the lovely Vanese Smith, a.k.a Pursuit Grooves, and Flying Lotus. Has anyone caught FlyLo recently? The new live show is pretty high-octane and a huge step up from the fun, but relatively low-key sets he used to play. Dude is a star.
I'm really excited to be spending some time helming the CBC Electronic community. It's an interesting moment for Canadian music — Cadence Weapon once told me: "It feels like a renaissance" — but I think it's especially bright for those working primarily within the vague confines of "electronic" music. Clearly I'm not a big fan of genre distinction.
And lastly, while you'll be seeing more content in the coming weeks, the team has done a great job with the CBC Electronic Facebook community and @CBCElectronic on Twitter. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to share your finds and tell us how we're doing — or even just to gossip about Deadmau5. (Okay, you can just @_anupa on Twitter to gossip.)
I'm going to sign off with my jam of the week, a remix of Janet Jackson's "If" by a cool young guy from Montreal, Kaytranada:
