During a great interview with Ottawa's CKCU 93.1 FM today, Arcade Fire's Jeremy Gara let slip that the band is working full time on the new record, which should be ready toward the end of 2013.
This willl be the first album since, essentially, the universe decreed, "Yes, Arcade Fire is one of the biggest bands in the world." Almost every award possible was bestowed on them for their third album, 2011's The Suburbs, including a Grammy, Junos and the Polaris Prize.
Gara joked that Arcade Fire would follow up all the accolades with a "fourth album collapse," and downplayed the band's achievements.
"We kind of got swept up in that whole thing, but that's really not what we do," he told CKCU. "We're actually just working like we always have. Like, we took a couple months off and we've been writing songs, and now we're in the studio pretty much full time just doing what we do.... We're just working on music and growing beards."
There are lots of fun, Arcade Fire insider things in the interview. Take a listen below.
